Ottawa Report

We just got back from a weekend in Ottawa. Thanks for all the suggestions. Here's what we ate:

Fraday Dinner - Ceylonta. We were going to try one of the other places listed for Indian in the Glebe, but there was no where to park. We wound up at Ceylonta, and were absolutely delighted we did. Food and service were wonderful.

Saturday Dinner - Zingarro Trattoria. The sign said it was under new management. The PEI Mussels were a great appetizer. My 8 year old daughter liked the Caesar Salad, because she could not tast the anchovies (if indeed there were any in it.) She had a Pizza which was OK, my wife and I had steak with tortolini (she liked it, I thought it was too heavy) and some sort of tangerine shrimp. The service was friendly, but the food was nothing special.

Sunday Brunch - Imperial Palace for Dim Sum. The snow pea shrimp dumplings were great. Everything else was O.K.

Sunday Dinner - Bekta. This could well be the finest restaurant I have ever dined at. Food was inspired and service was flawless. The wine list includes excellent selections by the glass. This made it easy to choose wines appropriate to each menu selection. The cheese board was fantastic. The meal was not cheap, but it was definitely worth the price.

Monday Breakfast - Elgin Street Diner. Great Diner fare.
