Ottawa: Meditheo

In Ottawa for the weekend and our last meal was a late lunch on Sunday. We decided on Meditheo as I had had a nice dinner here two years ago and wanted to see what lunch was like.

We arrived too late for the Brunch Buffet, and neither of us were in the mood for more breakfast, though the Meditheo Breakfast and the Eggs Benedict looked great (the people next to us were having this). Their appetizer platters also looked superb with dolmades, hummous and other middle eastern specialties (the people behind us had this).

Unfortunately we had none of these things. I ordeded a Meditheo beef wrap with fries and my wife had a salmon burger with fries. After one good meal and watching everyone around us get really nice looking dishes we seemed to have ordered the two things on the menu that were uninspired. My beef wrap was realtively tasteless, almost something you'd get at Subway except really really tiny, and my wife's salmon burger was dry and was overwhelmed by dill. And while we did both order fries there was no attempt at colour on the plates at all: my beef wrap was further wrapped in foil which next to a half plate of fries did not look that appetizing, though the fries tasted OK (frites style, but I've had better elsewhere).

All this might have been forgiven, but with two soft drinks the bill came to almost $40 with tax and tip, which I thought was excessive.

In any event I can still recommend Meditheo, and would definitely go back for dinner, but I would be a lot more careful about ordering.
