Restaurants & Bars 2

Ottawa -- Golden Palace

We finally made it to the Golden Palace to try the famed egg rolls -- so famous that people take road trips from Montreal to get some. I don't know what I was expecting -- the holy grail of egg rolls, I guess. At first bite I was vaguely disappointed. At second bite, things were looking up. They weren't the be all end all, but now I've returned home I can't stop thinking about them. Also had the Chicken Almond Guy Ding. Booooring. But then again when isn't it? The pork chow mein was to die for though. I felt transported back 20 years. The restaurant was packed. No chop sticks. Good service. I could totally see us doing a movie night -- slobbing out in comfortable clothes or PJs -- with an order of pork fried rice, chow mein and those egg rolls.
