Ostioneria 7 Mares

I had lunch here today after reading very positive reviews for this restaurant on Yelp.com. A good choice.

As the name implies, this is a Mexican restaurant that specializes in seafood. They also have some Tex-Mex items on the menu. Chips and salsa with boraccho beans to start off, with both the tomato salsa and tomatillo sala. The regular salsa was fresh, with plenty of flavor, but the tomatillo was outstanding. We ordered catfish (which the waitresses said was better today than the snapper) a la plancha, which was very good. Also the fajitas de res e camarones (beef and shrimp). It was excellent.

The homemade corn tortillas were as good as any I've ever had. The pico de gaello was very fresh and flavorful as was the guacamole. Friendly and effecient service. The meal was also a good value as the prices were reasonable and the portions were very generous.

I spoke to the gentleman who seemed to be in charge today when we left. He pointed out that they have an economical lunch buffet, and also serve breakfast. Breakfast included breakfast tacos for $1 and a huevos rancheros special (you need to ask for the special) for $1.99.
