I went against the advice of many and decided to check out Osteria Morini last night. I have to agree with everyone and say that this place is not worth anyone's time or money. While the food was OK, the service was some of the worst I have experienced in NYC to date. I remember seeing our "server" twice the entire night and all of the other people who occasionally came to our table were completely lost and barely spoke English. Dishes arrived and were put down without explanation, water glasses remained empty until I could chase down a busboy and help was generally no where to be found. The biggest issue for me was the handling of our bottle of lambrusco. Meant to be served chilled the bottle was kept away from our table in an ice bucket but the problem was that our waiter never came to refill our glasses. All I wanted was my wine but I had no idea how to retrieve said bottle. At one point I was walking around the place looking for the waiter so I could get a refill. Horrible and completely unheard of. All I ask is that you don't come between a man and his alcohol, right?
Anyway, this place isn't even close to other "rustic" Italian places like Maialino and Locanda Verde. Total waste of time and don't go unless you enjoy mediocre food and inexplicably poor service.
