Osteria Morini: third time's the charm

Multifoiled | Mar 13, 201603:08 PM

We've been to Osteria Morini twice before today. The first time we sat in the dining room and the food was good but the service was so-so. The second time we sat at the bar, again the food was good and the service was better. Today we sat in the dining room once again and the food and service were outstanding. I'm not sure if there have been any changes to the back or front of house, but it seemed like a different place this time.

To start, we had a cocktail and shared the lamb crudo crostini which was amazing. Great flavor and a generous, shareable portion for only $7. Next, we shared the rucola salad which was perfectly dressed and certainly large enough for two. For entrees, my husband had the squid ink torcia pasta with a shrimp and sepia ragu which was one of the better seafood pasta dishes he's had in a while. I had a special, torta rustica, which is a typical Italian Easter dish. Consisting of a beautifully flaky pie crust, it was deeply filled with eggs, ricotta, mozzarella, spinach, artichokes and 3 salumi! No, it was not a light dish but it was simply delicious. One of the best dishes I've had yet in 2016. For dessert we shared a simple but superb torta di olio. We also had a very interesting and fantastic bottle of sparkling Malvasia. We'd never had anything like it, but it made such an impression that we are looking to buy a case of it. It was that good.

Out server, Joe, was beyond helpful. He was truly gracious and made our time there the best we've had yet. Hopefully when we return to Osteria Morini the next time, the food and service will be just as good. This was really an outstanding meal.
