I lost my recipe for OSSI DEI MORTI italian cookies. They are traditionally made for All Saints Day. The recipe I had was exactly the same as the one they make at Victoria's Bakery in San Francisco. Does anyone have a recipe similar to that one? I have searched and made every recipe on the internet and none of them look like Victoria's. They are not a hard biscotti type cookie and they are not the hard meringue type that make a big puddle at the bottom. These are a drop cookie, with chopped almonds. They are set out overnight to dry and cooked the next day. When they rise in the oven, the inside puffs up and there are spaces inside. The outside has a off white color the color of bones and they are very hard on the outside. They keep well. I would truly appreciat this recipe. I have been looking for many years.
PS. I was just given a gift of Italian Cookies from Francesco's Bakery, Hicksville, Long Island and they make the same cookie. So Long Islanders?
