My mother usually starts preparing all of those traditional Japanese New Year foods almost a week before New Year's day. She's now 81, and as much as her genetic calling urges her to muster up the energy to do it again (think the movie,Tampopo where the ailing Japanese mom is summoned from near-death to make one last meal for her family) we've urged her to back off of this physically grueling ritual. We were thinking about going out on New Year's eve but it just wouldn't be the same for my parents if they couldn't celebrate with the traditional Osechi foods at home. Does anyone know of places offering this to take home? Sanuki no Sato in Gardena was already sold out since at least yesterday. Thanks!
