New Orleans in Summer

'Offseason' tends to be a cheaper way to visit places and get a truer feel for an area, but I've heard in several places that N.O. is not worth it in the summer. Many of the best restaurants close and the good acts leave town.

But people still live there!?!?! Can't close everything up. I live in Florida, so I'm not afraid of heat or humidity.

Would love to do a local music and food tour.

Tuesday night at Jacques-Imo's then to Maple Leaf for Rebirth.
Maybe a Mr. B's Wed. night and I'm sure there'll be good music somewhere (Cowboy Mouth or BTE would be the jackpot!)
Thurs. lunch at, say, Bayona then that night at Vaughn's to see Kermit Ruffins.
Friday Lunch at Commander's, dinner at K-Paul's, Bayona, or Marisol then Ellis at Snug Harbor.

Just a distant pipe dream at this point, but would somethign along these lines be possible or will that much music and food really be "closed for the summer."
