Just got back from New Orleans, and again cannot too highly recommend the Riverhouse Cafe at Magazine and State Streets. I absolutely love their food. The best po-boy's I've ever had (although I admit I didn't get to Mother's for their po-boys's to compare, as I had hoped) and a blue cheese salad I still dream about. This time, they even had a duck sausage that I wanted to try but will have to wait until next time.
My daughter wanted to go to Brennan's, which we did one evening. Good! But not memorable.
Alpine's on Chartres in the Quarter is still very good. Amir, the owner, is so wonderful to everyone who comes in. It's right next to Jackson Square so very convenient.
And, of course, visited the Omni Orleans bar in the evening for their Irish Coffee. Can't go to N. O. without doing that. Although I'd love to hear from others about where to get really good Irish Coffee -- this time, the Omni's wasn't quite as special as I remember it.
Anyway, I really enjoy returning to this message board to learn more about what I should try next time I'm there, and will try to come back with more good ideas next time!
