I grew up in Beltsville and have had 100's of Ledo's pizza from the original on Univ. Blvd. I have historically believed that they've got the best pizza around, but not lately...
We got 3 large pizzas last night. We ordered all of them to be cooked "well done" (as usual) and the they were not even tan on the bottom, but rather doughy and soggy.
The sauce was different. It wasn't sweet like it usually was.
The crust was doughy, not flaky. It was like eating tomato sauce on a white dinner roll (possibly because it was under cooked, though).
I told them I didn't want green peppers, but rather sweet red peppers. They gave me both.
The toppings on the large mushroom pizza were minimal and disproportionate. About a third of the pieces didn't have a single mushroom anywhere to be seen.
My brother told me that the last time he ordered pizzas there a couple of weeks ago, he asked them for toppings for the entire pizza but with an additional topping on 1 half. Of course, that 1 half ONLY had that 1 additional topping. I asked him if he was clear and he said he told the order taker repeatedly what he wanted and made her read it back to him.
I thought I'd never say this, but I think I'm done with the original Ledo's. I'll just go to the most convenient franchise near me from now on.
