Oriental Pearl in Chinatown: how is it for dim sum or otherwise?

svl | Sep 5, 2002 01:10 PM

The $40 A Day show on the Food channel featured San Francisco last night. For breakfast, Rachel goes to Oriental Pearl in Chinatown and has what looked like pretty good dim sum (off the menu, don't think they have carts). The restaurant looked pretty good too. I haven't been to this restaurant. Anybody's opinion?

She later goes to Metro Cafe for dinner. How's that place?

(I have seen some putdowns of this show on this board. I disagree with that. I have watched the show a few times, and although some of their selected restaurants make me cringe, I think that generally they do their homework. Maybe it's not cutting edge, but good enough. In the cities that I'm familiar with, of course.)
