Going Organic in Bed Stuy (or East Flatbush, Brownsville, East New York, or Canarsie) ...

CalJack | Jan 18, 200805:44 PM

I'm helping put together an ambitiously comprehensive guide to eating locally and organically in this wasteland of preservatives and pesticides, and though I'll be scouring each of these neighborhoods on foot, I didn't want to miss anything that might be lurking in the shadows out on the fringes of food-dom.

Here's what I know

In Bed Stuy:

*BushBaby on Fulton near Bedford for coffee, bites and brunch
*Brooks Valley on Tompkins Ave near Hancock for full spreads of organic Caribbean & Vegetarian fare
*Jamal & Prince Organic Food Mart on Halsey, for limited produce and dry goods (juice bar to come?)
*Folukie (possibly) on Bedford between Putnam and Madison

Everywhere Else:
* I have no idea

I'm grateful for recommendations you can muster.
