At meetings two weeks ago in Crescent City CA, I learned that Oregon's Bandon area is a big producer of cranberries. Somehow this fact had escaped me to date. Most of the crop is sold to the commodity market but some growers are trying to break out of that race to the bottom with specialty products. I was told that Oregon cranberries are sweeter and lower in acid than those from the East Coast.

I missed the cranberry tasting (drat!), but picked up this flyer for Bowman Bogs which hosts a farmstand September 11, 12 & 13 this year and throughout harvest which stretches into October. And tours are available during harvest.
