options in the heat...Blue Plate

I wouldn't think of a place that has meat loaf as a signature dish as necessarily a good choice on a hot day, but Blue Plate really fit the bill last night: hubby and I were looking for dinner after returning from a camping trip, didn't want to dress up (not to worry, we did shower :-)), ended up at Blue Plate. An excellent choice ...

On my two previous visits I had eaten in the front room, and didn't even realize there was a garden. Duh....We were seated in the middle room, but with the large back windows opened completely up to take advantage of the breeze and garden views, we felt we had the best of both the darkened rooms and the outdoors cool...

Best of all, the grilled squid was on the menu. A must have for hubby. I had a refreshing fig and grilled ricotta salata and also had the coriander crusted lamb with grilled graffiti cauliflower, roast onion and baby rainbow greens. It was listed as an app, but was big enough as a main...

In many towns this would be a destination spot. Here it is a neighborhood place. lucky we are to live here, and luckier yet that six days with highs in the 90's is considered a major heat wave!

Still, I DO hate the heat, and am still searching for aircond'd good places in the city. Whenever the question gets asked on the board, the solution is always 'eat outside'. Someday soon I will research and post my own list of aircond'd places, but meanwhile, good insulation and a lovely garden, not to mention excellent food, makes Blue Plate a perfect alternative to cooking on a hot day....
