Is there a can opener that you can rely on?

I'm not sure if this is the correct site since it really isn't cookware but here goes.
I have yet to find a can opener that lasts for long before it loses it's ability to open every size can without missing, slipping or dropping. I currently have a Cuisinart that is now failing me. I can't use a hand held because of loss of strength in my hand. I was given one of the newer types that you put on top of the can and it opens clean with no sharp edges, however, that lasted for all of one month or so. Once I changed the batteries it no longer worked. I don't have a place to secure a professional type of rotating heavy duty can opener which would be an answer. Soooo, I'm asking for any recommendations for a particular type/brand that has been tested through the years and proved reliable. Or, am I just bound to the fate of having to go out and buy a new one once or twice a year? P. S. I do take them apart and clean them regularly so it's not a matter of gook buildup. Thanks.
