Just-opened Mexican seafood restaurant in Joliet

Los Cocos
709 Collins St.
9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. everyday
(Los Cocos is setback in a new building on the W side of Collins between Ward and Columbia Sts. Look for a handscrawled sign at the curb below the tall sign for the La Villita wedding-gown store.)

I just made my hurried first visit. All I had is the caldo de camaron. The flavor was mild, but since Joliet lacks a good Mexican seafood restaurant, I'll try to work my way through Los Cocos' menu, which lists eight shrimp dishes, huachinango a la veracruzana, tacos, and biria de chivo. Terrific hochata ladled out of a glass barrel.
