Reviewed the comments from late November when Opaline opened; some were harsh but may have reflected some of the grower pains of a new restaurant. Had dinner there this week and was impressed. The front desk could not have been nicer, and the waitstaff was superb. The wine list was wide-encompassing and the prices were quite fair; evidently, several vintners gave the owners some cases and the owners were passing them to customers at virtually no mark-up. We had a Melville Inox for $45; the wine's not generally available at any price, let alone at that one. The appetizers and entrees were subtly flavored (snapper and yellowtail for our table), and the dessert cheeses were outstanding (as well as the small bottle of Rhone). Overall the staff bent over backwards and made the evening very memorable. Will be returning frequently.
