A friend and I had dinner at Oola last night. I usually get Azie, Oola, LuLu, et al. jumbled in my mind (all those 2-syllable names in the same block) but I was pleasantly surprised at how good dinner was. We started with the black mission figs stuffed with goat cheese on prosciutto, which had some kind of a balsamic reduction. They were exquisite and I was sorry to have to share. We also loved the chicken and foie gras ravioli, which lived up to our server's description of them as "insanely delicious." Rich, slightly sweet and savory at the same time. They didn't look terribly nice -- just sort of brown, overall, with a few random truffle shavings -- but we didn't have to look at them for long, they were so good.
Dessert was lovely too -- a chocolate croissant bread pudding that had a half-moon of slightly nutty tasting creme fraiche on top. I'm a sucker for bread pudding and a chocolate snob to boot, and I thought this was great.
