Shoji at 69 Leonard Street is a wonderful omakase experience. Chef Derek Wilcox has been trained in Japan in both Kaiseki and Sushi. He is quite knowledgable about all ingredients used and very willing to share information. He has mastered Excellence in Simplicity. The dishes look beautiful and the taste is balanced and perfect. You won't find triple layer tuna with caviar and uni nigiri. You will find amazing wild caught fish, fresh Japanese wasabi, special blend of Japanese rice for shari and perfection in each dish. Attached are photos from my last dinner there. It was fantastic. I highly recommend Shoji if you want to experience a real and delicious Japanese Omakase.
