Has anyone been to Oliveto's recently?

Bay Gelldawg | Aug 20, 200310:03 PM     4

Two of my sisters are visiting here in a few weeks, one for the first time. They have asked to go to an Italian restaurant. I was leaning towards Oliveto's, but I have never been and I want to make sure that:

1. We will get good food.

2. We will get pleasant service - no attitude.

3. We will be able to have a conversation without raising our voices. (Which is why we will not be going to Delfina even though it is near my house.)

So --- can anyone report on the noise level at Oliveto's as well as the quality of the food and service?

The weekend they will be here is the same time that Oliveto's is having its annual tomato festival. I saw the menu from last year on their website and it looks very interesting. I would appreciate opinions from anyone who has experienced it.

Any recommendations for other Italian restaurants would also be helpful. I live in San Francisco so I would prefer restaurants in the City if we don't go to Oliveto's (or maybe in addition to going there).

Thanks so much.
