Rather than try to search for which posts on this board are about the tiny original Oishii Sushi Bar in Chestnut Hill, rather than South Boston or Sudbury locations, which is a pain in the ass, I thought I'd just ask my questions...
Back in the day, >10 years ago, Oishii Chestnut Hill was this board's favorite sushi place (and mine). But I literally haven't been there in almost that long!
I'm thinking about rectifying that situation. Has anyone been there recently? I know they still don't take reservations, and I presume they still have ~14 seats.
Is there still a line out the door at lunch or dinner time? I used to sneak in at 3PM between the lunch and dinner crowds on the weekend without having to wait. Do I still need to do this? I'm thinking Sunday when they are open from 1-9:30PM.
How's the sushi? Is it still focussed on fancy rolls? They always had very liberal sized pieces of fish too compared to other places. Are the two brothers (ex-Nobu, IIRC) still the owners?
[BTW, I had another wonderful omakase at Cafe Sushi on Saturday, with the saki pairings. It was the most expensive one yet at $95, but we did have the famous Ora King salmon, which I've never had before. I'll have to post a pic in the food porn thread!]
