I bought a lovely, hand-carved wooden cooking spoon at a craft market, and the woman who sold it to me said I should oil it from time to time. I didn't think to ask what kind of oil. Could I just use Olive oil, or is there a special type I should buy? It's unvarnished walnut wood.
Should I be oiling other wooden things like cutting boards and normal wooden spoons? It never occured to me before, but perhaps this would keep them from absorbing things, and lengthen their 'life' in my kitchen. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
