I disagree with the Chowhound policy regarding offensive language, but understand that it is indeed the policy and that policing it would be onerous. I also understand that these are difficult decisions and that a lot of thought goes into making them. Nonetheless, I do object to the removal of all negative comments regarding tone while allowing those that are positive, despite the fact that many of those praising the writing style do not contribute to the discussion of the food. If negative comments are to be removed, I think the positive ones—at least those that do not further the discussion—should be removed as well. By not removing the admiring comments, Chowhound appears to be encouraging such writing rather than simply remaining neutral on the subject.
