Last week a bowl full of odoriko tomatoes from Monterey Market made a beautiful edible centerpiece at La Quinta Sagra del Pomodoro. Thin-skinned, creamy-fleshed, and a nice size for making caprese salad, the matte skin of these tomatoes has a luminous color with a violet tone to it. At night's end, we chopped up the centerpiece to make a fresh, uncooked pasta sauce with some garlic.
