• Rivington Grill, Shoreditch
Helpful efficient and pleasant service. Pieces of moderately moist rabbit with small cubes of black pudding, greens, and scattered wild mushrooms was OK, the dish somewhat oily. Enjoyed the venison and mushroom pie, a solid, homey shortcrust over a savoury cubes of meaty venison, a meaty stock, a the softer supple snap of mushrooms. Buttery fine crumbs on a plum tart bolstered by rich custard, dotted with vanilla bean.
• Green Cottage, Finchley/Swiss Cottage
Solid basic Cantonese. Luxuriant green gailan/Chinese broccoli, fairly well stir fried with chopped garlic. Moderately soft bean curd with crispy exteriors, stuffed with minced pork under a mild savoury starchy sauce.
• Cafe L'eto, Soho
An ok pot of earl Grey, a fairly generous piece of cheesecake with a medium density and spare dots of vanilla. Pretty looking cakes.
