Odd sweet at Damascus bakery (Atlantic/Court)

eeee | Mar 27, 2004 01:58 PM

I haven't been in a while, but I went to Damascus bakery today to get some fresh pita. While there, I saw a big tray of what looked like orange pulp mixed with nuts. I was curious and asked what it was; I was told it was "pumpkin delight." It was 12 a pound so I bought 1/4 of a pound to sample at home. It's a very interesting taste - it seems like very fresh pumpkin that has been somehow boiled down and candied. It's not overly sweet, actually. It is very messy (perhaps should be eaten with fork/spoon.) Worth a try for pumpkin lovers.
