Has anyone ever eaten at El Canchilla (I'm not absolutely sure of the name, but it's the only restaurant located on the corner of 21st and Treat Ave. in the Mission). I ordered two fish tacos and my eating partner a quesadilla with eggs, pinto beans and salsa on the side. The fish tacos were good: pan-fried pescado with salsa and a slice of avocado on top. The odd part happened when we asked for the check. None of the prices on the bill corresponded to the prices listed on the menu. When we asked about the discrepancy, the proprietor explained that the menu--from which we ordered our meals--was for the taqueria next door. But that didn't make sense either since the taqueria next door doesn't serve the same sort of food as El C.(Salvadorean + general Mexican) and posts different prices.
The neighboring taqueria window (literally) by the way serves awesome fish tacos, of the breaded, deep-fried sort for $1.50 a pop. Anyway, just wanted to share my experience of the double-pricing model(?) with people who eat in dark restaurants on lonely corners.
