Oceanaire at Harbor East in Baltimore

We went to Oceanaire on Saturday night for dinner and I was just amazed. I probably would not have chosen Oceanaire because I don't frequent expensive seafood restaurants and I usually avoid chains, but I had an unused gift certificate that was burning a hole in my pocket. Oceanaire scored very high in food, service and atmosphere.

We both had appetizers - my Fiance had escargots and I had calamari on an Oriental salad (a bed of finely cut up vegetables with an Oriental sauce). The escargots were pretty average, but the calamari was just amazing! The portion was huge and it was one of the best plates of fried calamari I have ever had. For entrees I had grilled blue fish with blue cheese with caramelized onions. It was just out of this world! My Fiance had trout stuffed with crab meat which was pretty good as well and a huge side of potatoes el gratin with truffles (also extremely good) and a side of asparagus with hollandaise sauce. I just drank soda with my meal and my Fiance had a very good glass of wine that our Server recommended. We shared a dessert which was a brownie with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce which we finished with coffee.

The service was flawless as far as I could tell. The wait staff are all very well trained and work as a team and the General Manager of the restaurant went around to the tables to make sure everyone was happy with everything. The decor and cleanliness of the restaurant was top shelf.

Our total bill with tax was $125 before tip. To me $125 for dinner for 2 is a substantial sum, but I would highly recommend them and we will return when we want high-end seafood or other special occasions.
