Had today at Ocean Ave. in Santa Monica a white fish I can only describe as sublime. Served on a bed of potato purée, spinach and olive oil. Capers on top, crispy skin. Amazing combination of flavors. Washed down with a 2003 Sancerre from Chateau de Sancerre. Preceded with a half dozen top notch oysters from California (sorry, I'll never remember oyster's names). Wife had an excellent clam chowder, followed by very decent scampi. Sorbets from Ciao Bella. Excellent, super fresh cheese cake from a vendor up north in San Francisco, sends goods every other day. Super friendly service by Nicole, lovely subject of Her Majesty the Queen. What else can you ask for on a balmy Sunday lunch? Total bill plus tax minus tip: $125. The King brothers (Ocean Ave, I Cugini, Water Grill &etc) for sure know their business.
