Has Ocean 211 changed ownership? I've been going there intermittently for several years when I'm in Stamford on business. Had a pretty disappointing dinner there last night and I'm hoping it was just an aberration. First, their wines by the glass selection is thin, only a few from which to choose. I began by ordering Caesar salad but was told it was only for two people. OK, then I'll take the Arugula salad with goat cheese. It showed up drenched in a tasteless oil and no matter how hard I looked, I couldn't find any goat cheese. Pointed this out to the server/host who whisked it away. When it came back a few minutes later there were about 6 gobs of soft Chevre added to the plate. This helped by adding taste but didn't do much for absorbing the oil. No bread had showed up so I flagged the server/host again and asked. He was back quickly with a basket and poured some low-grade olive oil on the bread plate. I can assure you that this was about as extra-virgin as Pamela Sue Anderson. My entree was sesame crusted salmon over cucumber risotto. This, at least, was good. Not excellent, but good. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the wilted cucumber slices were a nice touch but the risotto was pretty soggy. With two glasses of wine this little outing cost $62 without tip. It wasn't worth it.
