if you really like szechwan peppercorns and you decide to fix some to bring to your work to sprinkle on stuff like plain noodles and instant soup from the chinese grocery store [allowing you to enjoy that lovely addictive numbing sensation with every dreary lunch], and you dutifully toast the peppercorns first and then grind them by hand in a morter and pestle and then decide to put the ground peppercorns in a airtight pill bottle to keep in your desk until needed, you will get rather peculiar looks from co-workers when you bring that bottle out to sprinkle on your food. . . amazing how ground szechwan peppercorn looks just like the seeds of some illicit plant renowned for its intoxicating effects would look if you ground them up and stuck them in an old pill bottle. . . . but they do add such a nice kick to the noodles and the soup. . . .
