Google search has let me down. I'm trying to find restaurants in the US that specialize in Oaxacan cuisine.
I'm particularly interested in South Florida because we're moving to Sarasota and plan to eat our way up and down the SW and SE coasts... but we'll be visiting many US cities to visit Museums also.
Here's one, anyway - https://www.chowhound.com/post/urbano...
But also if you Google just "Oaxacan Austin" there are some hits, including a Yelp page; maybe that would work for other cities as well.
Good luck! Please report back.
There are a couple of very well known places in Los Angeles: Monte Alban and Gueleguetza. I've been to Monte Alban, where I recommend the molocote, nopalitos salad, chilicayote agua fresca and the mint salsa tamales.
There are markets in LA where you can buy hormemade mole, often sold in concentrated form that you add water to. I've seen that in Grand Central Market.
Many southern states might be worth trying, but the number of Chowhounds around Durham brought NC to mind and I tried Googling "Oaxacan food North Carolina." That does get some hits that you could check out. When you are planning a trip in that direction (or DC or elsewhere - might try Chicago or of course NYC, if you want to go further north), you might write a new post specific to the area, asking for recommendations at that time.
Here's a currently active thread about the food scene in Durham:
https://www.chowhound.com/post/durham... - note the local/regional tags used there: Southeast/North Carolina/Durham. A couple more clues for your search, from that discussion - check local food columns, and don't forget food trucks! They too may have online listings.
For some reason the NC search also turned up a maybe-interesting restaurant in Oakland, CA:

The Website presenting that article reminds me to say that San Antonio TX is another good place to look, and Houston as well. Unfortunately - I hope things change - at the moment Texas CH discussions are extremely limited, so I don't know how many responses you'd get there, but it may be worth a try.
California has the largest number of indigenous Oaxacan people (Triques, Zapotecs and Mixtecs) in the US. There are many restaurants from Mom and Pops that serve the workers and their families to upscale spots all around the state. If your travels will bring you this far west, shout out and I can provide more details.
I'll mention that I had an excellent tlayuda in a Rick Bayless eatery in Chicago, as well.
