I was hoping to go back to try the tamales and the taco truck, but it looks like that might not ever happen. Also, it looks like I lost what notes I have, if any.
HOWEVER, on the corner of approximately 23rd and Fruitvale there is a Mexican market ... the name of which I lost.
In front in the afternoon there is a little cart called The Churro Factory that makes excellent churros and pretty good Mexican hot dogs. In the parking lot there is a taco truck I have yet to try. In the morning The Churro Factory sells tamales. Haen't tried those either.
Though on the greasy side, I like the churros better than any I've tried in the Bay Area. They aren't always hot but they are not too sugared. The churro itself isn't too heavy and they have four fillings ... vanilla, chocolate , strawberry and cajeta.
I got the chocolate because I haven't seen that before. It was a nice pudding-type of filling.
The Mexican hot dog would have been a lot better if it had not been luke warm ... but nice with the bacon wrapping and ton of condiments.
The market has a nice selection of fruit at good prices. The meat counter didn't do a lot for me.
If I do get out that way again I'll fill in the details. Churros and hot dog were $1 - $1.50.
It is sort of a Mexican mini-mall so to speak ... one stop shopping ... market/churros/hot dogs/ tacos/tamales.
