Oakland, 19th St "food alley" recommendations...

There are quite a lot of restaurants, big and small, on 19th St near Broadway. Wondering about YOUR recommendations (hit or miss).

The Gourmet Burger is good quality, nice variety, casual service, busy for lunch. Better food than Bellyroll Ben's on the other side of 19th, but different atmosphere (Ben's is OK for a change). Both have upstairs seating, too! Easy prices.

Maximo's is tiny (2 tables inside, 1 on sidewalk) but, when I tried one of the lunch plate specials (Chicken Curry) and got basimati rice with SAFFRON(!) and excellent salad on side, I knew I'd be back -- quality food, quick service. At least one lunch a week. Easy prices.

Bill and Roy's 19 Street Station is a VERY nice after-work casual bar, east of Webster, if you like to socialize and drink. Closes by 8pm.

What's with the Filipino Creamery and Florist!?!
