Oak Park - River Forest - Forest Park

Jack | Dec 6, 200306:32 PM

Having lived in Oak Park for almost 2 1/2 years now, let me hold forth just a bit.

I have eaten at Jimmy's 3 times as follows:

Italian Sausage Sandwich - above average
Spaghetti w/ Marinara - average
Lasagna - meatless - below average

Everything at Francesca's next door is better than these 3 items at Jimmy's. But the family tavern ambience at Jimmy's is good.

The Italian Beef and Lemon Ice at Johnnie's are GRREAT!

The Country Rigatoni at Pronto Roma is worth a stop.

Poor Phil's - Good beer selection; food sucks.

Although I have not eaten everywhere, I'm pretty sure that Cafe Le Coq is the best restaurant in the area.

You can often do as well at Jewel or Caputo's for much less money than at Whole Foods. However, the 365 brand stuff if almost always a good value.

Great Italian deli - Freddy's
