This is it Hawaii chowhounds...one Canadian and Australian are headed your way to get married at the Kahala Mandarin Oriental and we need your recs!
We're leaving for Honolulu in four days and our elopement/wedding meal will be at Hoku's next Tuesday. They've kindly sent us their menu but your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
We've done some homework and have made reservations at Alan Wong's for the chef's counter, and at L'Uraku. As much as we'd like to fit in Roy's....the Canadian dollar doesn't stretch that far. Can I ask you for some other suggestions that provide great food and atmosphere without spending big bucks?
Besides the malasadas at Leonard's, the shave ice at Matsumoto's, what else is a must? Any great cafes? Hard to find is okay, we want to explore. And is L & L worth it, or just a chain? Also, where to get the ultimate saimin?
Last question, are there any good markets to check out fresh produce, or maybe a fish market where the catch comes in early?
