We're planning to go to Central Park for the fireworks at midnight and are staying at the NYC Palace at Madison and 50th. As we will be walking everywhere that night we want to do dinner somewhere that is between the hotel and Central Park South i.e. no further west than 8th avenue at the farthest point, nothing below 50th, nothing further east that the hotel. We could go up a bit into the 60's east or west but wouldn't want to go too far.
We want a place that is sit down, will take reservations, but prefer it not be prix fixe, though we're willing to consider that if needed. We don't want super fancy or stuffy, old time NYC type places would not be our thing.
Cuisine: My friend and I like good food and are open to most cuisines, however, we're not quite at the true foodie level so probably a bit more traditional or basic within each category works best. Russian, Spanish or Tapas, Korean BBQ might be fun, steak places, American, Greek, Cuban, Brazilian, French, Asian. We do a lot of very good Italian at home so it's not top of the list, but certainly okay. Prefer no seafood.
Price Point: All up food, tip, tax, drinks we'd like to not go beyond $100pp max. We will do little in the way of cocktails as we'll be doing drinks before and after. so don't need to have a large budget for that. We won't be ordering a bottle of wine or several cocktails.
I'd prefer not Betony, Benoit, or The Modern as I've eaten at them many times.
Suggestions would be so welcome, I've been looking at ideas for weeks now and am on overload. I've tried to be specific enough to hone it down, I hope it's not too specific.
Thanks for your help.
