To date, lunch has included three courses. This summer, for the first time, lunch is not included. The price for lunch was decreased by $3 but I'd guess these restaurants charge $8-10 for dessert. This represents a 17% to 24% increase over the previous price.
This seems to have gone unnoticed by the "food press". Thrillist, for example, notes the new prices but in its analysis of Gotham Bar offering, misses the point:
"Its standard $38 prix-fixe lunch featuring a soup, salad, or ceviche starter, a pasta, chicken, or seafood entree, plus a dessert, runs $38, so Restaurant Week’s lunch sampler is like stealing candy from the heir to the Cadbury fortune."
it would be more accurate to say restaurant week stole the candy from its diners...
