What a great site! We are planning a trip to NYC (group of seven) and I've gotten so much info by "cruising" the boards- but I still have a few questions :) Here is our prelimenary plan...
Night one: Reservations at Hangawi (two in our group are vegetarian)...who has been? what should we order??
Night two: Reservations at Aquavit (so excited)...i'm assuming the tasting menu is a must!
Night three: Reservations at Cafe Boulud: What to order? Might be a silly question but can you order appetizer from one menu and entree from another? Also, our reservation is pretty late - is there a good place for predinner drinks in the area that can accomodate 7?
Rest of the week:
- going to a Yankees game one night so planning on either eating stadium food or maybe grabbing something near the stadium...any vegetarian friendly recs in the area? I saw the NYT article reccomending Bruckner's Bar and Grill but I'm not sure if it is walking distance...
- also going to theater one night (still finalizing tickets)-- we are definitely going to try to get a reservation at Trattoria Telcolori (thanks Hounds!)- what should we order??
- My boyfriend is a huge Iron Chef fan and really wants to go to Morimoto but we have seen mixed reviews. Is it vegetarian friendly? Should we go? What should we order? If we don't go, where should we go instead?
We haven't nailed down our exact "sightseeing" schedule but I am assuming it will be based around the big tourist spots- Empire State Building, Ellis Island & Statue of Liberty, Museums, Circle Line Tour, NBC studios, 5th Avenue, etc. Can any of you recommend lunch spots around these spots not requiring reservations, veg. friendly, casual and can accomodate seven?? (I know I'm asking alot with this one... : ) We like to try all kinds of cuisine (though probably not BBQ or "soul food" unless its outstanding- I can get plenty of that down here in Mississippi- ha!)
Thanks so much everyone!! I am open to any suggestions!
