NY Chowhound Visits Portland

Tinky | Aug 23, 200102:40 PM     11

Looking forward to my first visit to Portland over labor day weekend. I will arrive Friday morning and plan to spend Friday afternoon and evening exploring downtown Portland with a friend who recently moved there. Would appreciate a recommendation for lunch and dinner. I'm particularly interested in northwest style and flavors. We have plenty of french, italian, asian choices in NY.

Over the weekend we plan to head out for day trips to Mount Hood and the coast. Would appreciate any tips for chowhound experiences en-route or at either of those locales. We will have a one-year old along with us for these two day trips so we need family-friendly joints.

Thanks in advance!
