My wife and I have been planning a four day Chicago trip from 10/8-10/11 to celebrate our anniversary. I was thrilled to snag reservations at every place on our list (including Alinea and CT) without much trouble. However, when it came time to book a place to stay, I sensed trouble. Sure enough, I had somehow managed not to notice that it was marathon weekend. Yes, that time every year that New Yorkers know too well, when their city is turned over to a pack of wandering psychotics whose idea of a good time is subjecting their body to extreme punishment and then puking on the street while simultaneously tying up vehicular and pedestrian traffic all over the city.
My question is: just how bad will it be? Will it be possible to see the city on Saturday or Sunday or will everything be jammed? I did come up with a place to stay but I could put the trip off for a couple of weeks and try to rebook the restaurants.
