Has anyone tried the NuWave PIC?

Question

I just watched one of those Infomercials, this time advertising the NuWave PIC (induction cooking/warming unit).
Has anyone out there tried it and if so, offer any pros and cons?

First of all, this is obviously a low end PIC. You don't get a quality PIC plus a 9-inch Stainless-Steel Non-Stick Omelet Pan, a 10.5-inch Stainless-Steel Non-Stick Frying Pan, a 3.5 qt Stainless Steel Pot with Tempered Glass Lid, a Stainless Steel Steamer Basket, and a 9-piece Stainless Steel Foundue Set for 3 Easy Payments of only $33.33 (plus $30 s&h per set on TWO sets). For $160 you can do better.

If the green pans included here are like the other green pans out there, they will be magically nonstick for up to six months, and then stuff will stick like glue. You'll just end up chucking them out.

Another caution: PIC Cooking Club VIP Membership. These are usually free for a month or two, but then you start getting charged monthly (sometimes as much as $30) and are notoriously difficult to cancel, and you can't opt out up front. The web site doesn't say any more about it.

IMO, if you want a PIC, there are several under $150 at Amazon, most of which include free shipping. Max Burton has two 1800 watt models under $90. (The NuWave is 1300 watts.) The MB's are both rated 4/5 stars.

I ordered the pic with a buy one get one free and was supposed to get the cookware with it. I paid $159.89 they sent the two pic2 but not the cookware. I just called them and they said I didn't pay the shipping for the cookware and I would have to pay $59.95 plus shipping of $29.95. I had no choice but to buy it, because if I sent the two pic2 back I would have to pay at least $40.00 for shipping and would only get $99.00 back. I don't know how it works until I get the cookware, ours won't work with. This is not a good company. Very displeased

I have had my Nuwave since X-mas 2012 . And I love it . I even bought a set (2) more for my daughter . I have not used my Stove top only a very few times and I have a nice 5 burner stove top . we have taken them camping with us .I dont have to worry about forgetting the water I can set the time, I can set the heat, I really love mine. Now you cant use your other pots and pans, but I love cast iron and I did get the pan set with mine and they are still in good shape . I scramble 3 doz eggs a day in my skillet and still going. I know my next house I will not even buy a stove a oven yes but not a stove top . I am looking for new pans ( just want more) all i have is the set it came with and my cast iron ones ,.and after 2 year time to get some more

I purchased the NuWave PIC, got the TV deal. It is terrific for me. My kitchen is small, and the ceiling is 6" shorter than normal (7.5 ft). This makes my highly efficient and expensive gas range impossible to use, since in makes the temp under my cabinets go up to 100+ degrees! I bought a second set, and now use them on my stove top with the use of glass cutting boards. The induction cooktops are excellent. I just got rid of all my old non-magnetic cookware, and am replacing them with induction ready cookware. I love these PICs.

SO I WATCHED THE INFOMERCIAL, AND PICKED UP THE PHONE. I DID THE 2-FER BUT AVOIDED THE PRICEY ( AND LONG WINDED ) UP-SALE. SPENT ABOUT 140.00 AND WAITED WEEKS FOR DELIVERY OF 3 PANS, 2 COOKTOPS, 1 LID AND A USELESS FONDUE SET.

 PANS ARE OK, BETTER THAN THE ORGREENIC ONES. THE STAINLESS STEEL IS SOLID. I HAVEN'T BURNED ANYTHING, AND I AM NOT WORRIED ABOUT SETTING THE HOUSE ON FIRE. 

 I USE IT EVERY DAY, AND WISH THERE WAS A LID FOR THE SMALL FRYING PAN. I LIKE IT, AND WILL ORDER ANOTHER PAIR. STAY AWAY FROM THE OVEN. TOO MANY CRACKED DOMES IN THE FIRST YEAR.

 BTW, I NOW COOK ON MY COFFEE TABLE IN FRONT OF THE TV.

My experience with the NuWave PIC AND the cookware has been nothing less than outstanding. Easy to clean up, constant temperatures that are controlled in 5 degree increments, and cooks much more efficiently than an electric stove. So much so that I'm planning on purchasing an induction stove and yes, it's pricey. VERY pricey, but worth it.

I've had the Duxtop 1800 watt induction hob for going on three years. It works great! Amazon with free shipping is 65.99 Tack on an set of Ikea 365+ pots and pan for $50 and you'll never turn your electric stove on again.
 Excellent pots and pans. Shippings for the pots is about $15 (free if you have an Ikea store in the neighborhood) and neither company will give you grief about returning them. Worst case total $135. 
Its only one(not two) hobs, but I'd be willing to bet the Ikea pots are far better quality than theirs. 
My next big chunk of kitchen funds is an Ikea 4 element induction cooktop (Nutid). More power, finer adjustments but its $1000 bucks.

I have the PIC and it works well but it is not as fast as they would like you to believe, that being said it is a good product and I use it and not the gas range in the house unless I need to cook more than one thing at a time. be aware that the cookware you use must be induction compatible look for the wave on the bottom no wave no cook. mine is the Titanium

I have two nuwave pic gold. I use them every day. Haven't used my gas stove top since I purchased the pic. A year ago. Now I never have to worry about burning anything. I like the stainless steel steamer that I purchased with the two pic. It gets used often for not just steaming but I make roasts in mine. For my other pots and pans, they are tramontina tri ply. I don't have cast iron just because they are too heavey. And I also found a 10" square ss pan at Amazon which I really like and use for pancakes, french toast and grilled cheese sandwiches etc, All in all the nuwave pics work great. I would purchase again.

Yes i have, i got mine 2 days ago and they are wonderful,I got the upgrade and I plan to buy two more, you just can't beat how these cook, and the pans omg got to get more of them also. I recommend to all that likes to cooks and to those who don'e they are safe and do what they say they do. I i new how to do a demo, I would, I just love them they beat any range i have ever owned, gas, elec and of them. Such a happy camper her.

they also say when you remove the pan it shuts off and is cool to the touch this in not true it does shut off when pan is lifted but not cool anyone can see that fact when the inferred camera shows the heat in the stove and pic you can see the white in between the pot and the pic this in my opinion is a false statement and your little child can be burnt so it is not as safe as they claim..

I have used one for over a year and recently got a second one. I love love love it! Much easier than using my stove top. Food doesn't burn or smoke. I can cook at exact temperatures...I just can't say enough good things about it. We took it in our RV for a 5 month trip around the USA and only used it for cooking. I never touched the camper stove. I honestly can't think of anything I don't like about it.
After I read the other reviews, I need to say that I was warned about Nuwaves 2 for 1 policy. I stayed away from them and got the first one from Amazon, and the second one from ebay. The second one is new, came with a carry case and a 9" duralon fry pan. I got it all for $65.00 and free shipping.

Can anyone that has one of these comment on the low power and simmering abilities? I'd like to use it for at the table hotpot cooking where it can maintain a very low simmer. The DUXTOP doesn't do this well as it has a crude low frequency PWM control that cause it to turn on and off. This makes the water boil for a few seconds and then not boil, as can be seen in this video at the 8:10 mark: https://youtu.be/ungCQD4lqRE?t=8m10s
