Nutrition: Fresh vs. Pickled

Everybody knows cooking vegetables destroys the vitamins in them, and the longer you cook, the more are destroyed.

But what about pickling? Does the acid destroy the vitamins or preserve them? So are pickled vegetables good for me or just good?
