Numero 28 report

Agentnyc | Jan 18, 2005 12:08 PM

I went to Numero 28 on Saturday night with three other friends, looking for the next great pizza place. Overall, a pretty disappointing experience.

Room - comfortable, a little cold (they needed a space heater). One strange thing - there is a big beverage list on the side wall of bottles of wines, etc. that is a little hard to read. After trying to get up and read it from a different angle, we were told it was decoration. Odd, since it was the only decoration in the place. Also, they didn't have bottles listed on the menu, but we were told they could give us a bottle if we wanted.

Service - terrible. It took 15 mintues for us to put in our order. Our waiter could barely speak English, we had to repeat our orders many times and when an issue came up, he had no idea what we were talking about (see below).

Food - I had the prosciutto pizza, which was really good. A generous portion of prosciutto which gave the pizza a really salty taste. Unfortunately, that salt is need on the margerita pizza, which was a little bland. The other two friends had cannelloni. One had the spinach cannelloni which he enjoyed. The other had the veal cannelloni which was cold in the middle. Since nobody was checking on our meal, someone had to get up and bring the cannelloni over and after explaining it to the waiter, who didn't understand, explain it to another waiter.

It seemed that other people were enjoying their pizzas which you can get in sizes for two and three people. One couple split a medium pizza and then ordered another, which means they are not very filling.

In summary, pretty disappointing.
