We are departing in a few days for Nova Scotia in our 1966 Airstream Overlander travel trailer. We'd love your recommendations for dining (on the cheap) from Nova Scotia to PEI and New Brunswick. When we get to NS, should we head towards Halifax or should we go towards Cape Breton Island? We're going to spend a few days in NS, and then on to PEI. From there, we will follow the coast to the St. Lawrence Seaway then inland to Trois Rivieres.
So, are there great markets to shop at on this route? How about farmstands and local produce? What's in season right now? We are going to cook most meals ourselves and will look for great seafood, produce, bread, and a butcher. If there are any local producers or food artisans that we should visit, please suggest them (cheese, bread, grains, etc.)!
We'll splurge a little in Quebec City for a more European experience and head south back to NY State from Trois Rivieres.
If you know of any not-to-be-missed campgrounds or scenic highways, we'd appreciate those recs as well!
