We had a pint at the Dog's Bollix while waiting for our dinner on Friday. It's a really unpretentious little Irish pub, very workmanlike and un-fancy. I had the best Guinness pint I've had in the Bay Area. It was ice cold and was let to sit tlll the bubbles had settled before it was served. I shall return.
Stopped in at SPICES!, a trendy Szechuan/shanghai restaurant, to look at the menu. I recognized some things from one of Ruth's posts, I think...fire-bursted mongolian beef? The words "fire-burst" rang a bell, but perhaps it's a regular technique at szechuan shops. The menu is very interesting -- lots of spicy dishes, and organ meats right alongside the pork shoulder. One of a new sort of authentic regional restaurants serving the younger populations. Has anyone checked this place out?
