Noticed in the Richmond while picking up Burma SuperStar takeout

For my post on Burma Superstar see Melanie's thread just below.

These are both on Clement, near 4th st.....

We had a pint at the Dog's Bollix while waiting for our dinner on Friday. It's a really unpretentious little Irish pub, very workmanlike and un-fancy. I had the best Guinness pint I've had in the Bay Area. It was ice cold and was let to sit tlll the bubbles had settled before it was served. I shall return.

Stopped in at SPICES!, a trendy Szechuan/shanghai restaurant, to look at the menu. I recognized some things from one of Ruth's posts, I mongolian beef? The words "fire-burst" rang a bell, but perhaps it's a regular technique at szechuan shops. The menu is very interesting -- lots of spicy dishes, and organ meats right alongside the pork shoulder. One of a new sort of authentic regional restaurants serving the younger populations. Has anyone checked this place out?
