Dear Chicago Chowhounds,
I am coming to Chicago in a few days for a very short time, just 2 days. We are staying in Lombard, IL for one night, and going to the Museum of Science and Technology during that time period. We are willing to drive for good food. Looking for reasonably priced food, not expensive, say up to $13/person not including beverages. Is it too cliche to ask where you can get the best deep dish pizza and best hot dogs? I was reading the thread on Italian beef, anything in our vicinity or not too tough to get to? What not to be missed local foods that can't be found in other parts of the country should we look for in our 2 days?
I remember eating at the Parthenon Restaurant over 20 years ago. It mainly sticks in my mind because of the flaming cheese. Is that restaurant recommended, or other Greek food better? We don't have many Greek restaurants in Northern CA. Or should we forget about that and go straight for the deep dish pizza?
Then we are driving to Kalamazoo, so if anyone knows where we can stop to eat on the way to or in Kalamazoo, that would also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much,
