Northeast downtown TO: some cheap picks

Greetings chowhounds,

I've been living around the Church/Wellesley area and loving the abundance of good cheap stuff to eat (although Church St itself is generally a bit too yuppified in my books). With TTC prices so high, it's nice to have so many great spots in walking distance. I thought I'd post some tips on excellent bargain-priced restaurants in the vicinity of Bloor-Yonge subway:

Biryani House, on Roy's Square (just off Bloor/Yonge): WOW! Unusual variety of fantastic Indian Muslim dishes, especially from Lucknow and Hyderabad. They bill themselves as "the art of Indian cooking", and their menu takes a couple of jabs at the usual generic Indian places -- and they're right to do so, I must say after eating there. They could compete with places I've eaten in India. Deliciously spiced meals for not too much money -- one person could eat there for $10 (less for a vegetarian), although drinks, tip, naan and their melt-in-your-mouth gulab jamun would probably bring it up to $15.

Mr. Jerk, on Wellesley between Sherbourne and Parliament: Best fast food I've found in the city so far. There might be other branches, though I haven't seen them yet. Their jerk chicken dinner and jerk pork sandwiches are scrumptious -- tastier than what I've had at several sit-down Jamaican places.

Royal Angkor, on Yonge just south of Rosedale subway: I've mentioned this one before, but it's worth mentioning again. Great, filling Cambodian wonders with mounds of rice at burger prices. Try the Spicy To-Fu (best tofu dish I've ever had).

Anyone know of some other delicious bargain finds in this area? I haven't made it to the Horseed (Somalian food) on Sherbourne yet, but I'm curious -- anyone tried it?

Amod.
