Had a good few days in Wakefield last week and wanted to say thanks!

Always scouting out new-to-me places when there, so Monday after driving around all the holiday lights, I found my way into Donatello on Rt 1 in Saugus. Had some pretty good clams casino followed by a very nice plate of gnocci. Pretty good WA syrah by the glass and a great bar with lots of characters. Will be back, I imagine.

Tuesday was the obligatory visit to the Duck Walk. Food was good as usual, but I'm ~still~ stumped by that wine list! I've not seen that depth and breadth in an Asian place anywhere else.

Based on the reviews here, a buddy of mine from Barcelona (Brit, actually) and I sought out O Fado for dinner on Wednesday. The restaurant was open, but empty, so we took stools at the bar. We both had the octopus (pavula?) and it was knock-out-good! Very savory and tender. What a fun place.

Thursday was Italian again at Ristorante Molise. Big party and solid fare - the scallops special with a savory citrus vinegar sauce was really nice.

Thanks for good suggestions on O Fado - will definitely be back there next time.
